The Barabati stadium in Cuttack brings us live action for the second T20 International between India and South Africa.
It was a dream come true moment for Rishabh Pant as he captained Team India for the first time filling up the shoes for the injured KL Rahul. However it was not what he expected, as Team India succumbed to a defeat by 7 wickets and failed to set a world record for the most successive T20 international wins. They were brilliant with the bat scoring 211 runs and managed to break their own record of the highest total in a T20 game at Arun Jaitley stadium in Delhi of 202 runs they scored against New Zealand . They did not have the best of days in the field and with the ball, as they will believe the errors costed them the vital game. However it’s a new day and with four more games to play along with the hunger and intent the young team India possess, they will be looking to bounce back and make it 1-1 in the series.
South Africa were looking in deep trouble at one stage of the game as they were 81-3 in 8.4 overs. However it was David Miller’s 64 off 31 balls and Rassie van der Dussen’s 75 off 46 balls that managed to turn the game around taking them over the finish line with 5 balls to spare and setting a new record at the stadium for the highest run chased. South Africa will be well aware of their bowling and fielding errors during the game and will be looking to correct them ahead of their second T20 International. They have been in fine form recently and will be looking to carry forward this momentum onto the next game and make it 2-0 in the series.

The toss shall play a crucial part in determining the outcome of the game and and the records stand, the pitch at the Barabati stadium is towards the slower side which will completely aid the spinners. We expect a significant amount of dew in the latter half of the game considering the humidity level in the city. Taking the weather conditions into account, we expect the captain winning the toss to bowl first and restrict the opposition to a reasonable total.

Batter to watch out for – David Miller
One can safely say when things started to look out of reach for South Africa as they were 81 for the loss of 3 wickets, David Miller single handedly got them back in contention thanks to his blistering and brutal knock. He managed to score 61 off 31 balls and with the support from Rassie van der Dussen towards the end of the game, South Africa managed to chase down the mighty total of 212 runs with 5 balls to spare. Miller has been in fine form throughout the IPL and with his recent knock, we expect him to carry this form onto the next game and deliver a great performance for South Africa.
Bowler to watch out for – Harshal Patel
It was not one of the best days at the office for Harshal Patel as he managed to deliver a below average performance in the first T20 International picking up just a 1 wicket for 43 runs in his 4 overs. However we all know what he is capable of delivering and with the slowish nature of the pitch in Cuttack we expect the slow ball specialist to bounce back in the second game and pick up vital wickets for his team.
Quintin de Kock( c ), Rishab Pant, Ishan Kishan, David Miller, Shreyas Iyer, Rassie van der Dusen, Dwaine Pretorius, Hardik Pandya (vc), Keshav Maharaj, Harshal Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal.
India fell short on creating a world record for the most successive wins in T20 Internationals however, the men in blue are quite capable of bouncing back in these crucial stages. They will be well aware of their bowling and fielding errors that cost them the first game and will be looking to make it level in the series as we predict Team India to emerge victorious in this game.
