DeMar DeRozan’s net worth, investments and sponsorships

DeMar Darnell DeRozan was born on August 7, 1989, in Compton, California. He played college basketball for the USC Trojans and was the ninth overall pick by the Toronto Raptors in the 2009 NBA draft. He is known for his mid-range jumpers and clutch shots. 

DeRozan has had a decent career with 20.8 points, 3.9 assists, and 4.4 rebounds per game. His best season so far has been with the Chicago Bulls in the 2021-22 season, during which he averaged 27.9 points per game. He played nine seasons with the Toronto Raptors and three seasons with the San Antonio Spurs before getting traded to the Bulls in 2021. 

After DeRozan’s arrival and him teaming up with Zach LaVine, Lonzo Ball and Nikola Vu?evi?, the Bulls look different and could have high hopes next season as well. DeRozan’s career achievements so far include:

  • DeMar invested in a sneaker rental company, KYX World, in February 2022. 
  • DeMar released his own clothing line in 2019 called Comp10 — an apparel brand dedicated to his hometown of Compton. 
  • DeRozan bought a US$4.5m mansion in River North, which was put on the market by Michael Jordan’s ex-wife in 2021. 
  • The Bulls forward owns a fleet of cars, which include: a Volvo XC90 worth US$80,000, a BMW X6 worth US$72,000, a Tesla Model 3 worth US$60,000, a Mercedes-Benz GLA worth US$55,000, a Ferrari Portofino worth US$700,000, and a Bugatti Veyron worth US$2 million.

  • DeRozan worked with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to grant the wishes of children in Canada during his time with the Toronto Raptors. 
  • DeRozan started a Slam Dunk Book Club during his NBA rookie year in Toronto. For nine years, 100+ kids showed up to read books, learn and practice basketball. The club was active every Saturday from mid-February to mid-April, and DeMar made sure that the kids met him at the end of every session. The kids used to say that DeRozan was quiet, but it didn’t matter because he showed up. DeRozan started interacting with kids over time before leaving for the Spurs in 2018. 
  • Oprah Winfrey and Prince Harry released a docuseries in May 2021, the Mental Health Awareness month, where a number of celebrities talked about mental health, one of whom was DeRozan. In 2018 as well he talked about the same along with his fellow NBA star Kevin Love. 

DeMar DeRozan’s Net worth

DeRozan ended his five-year, US$139m contract with the San Antonio Spurs in 2021 and became a free agent. The Chicago Bulls took the opportunity and signed him on a three-year deal worth US$85 million, paying him around US$28 million annually until 2024. His net worth is estimated to be US$23 million, and his total earnings to date are around US$200 million.

Nike

DeMar has been a Nike athlete since almost the start of his NBA career. He signed an extension with the company before the start of the 2018 season. The multi-year deal has him showing off Nike’s Kobe collection, which DeRozan is happy to do for his sporting idol. He also participates in several Q&A sessions and other Nike campaigns.

Spalding

DeRozan signed with Spalding in 2015, a deal the sporting brand announced on its social media. Spalding also released limited-edition DeRozan Dunking Hoops in 2019 and several other signed basketball accessories. 

Gatorade

DeMar starred in Gatorade’s ‘Cool as Ice’ commercial in 2018, featuring the Arctic Blitz flavour. In the commercial, DeRozan can be seen shooting his signature mid-range fade-away jumper on a frozen basketball court. 

Klipsch Audio

Klipsch is a Canadian headphone and speaker company that partnered with the Toronto Raptors and DeMar DeRozan in 2014. The deal included a pair of customised Klipsch Mode M40 headphones specially for the Raptors and DeRozan, who also did a live Q&A with Klipsch Audio for the fans in the North.
