The two new franchises in the Indian Premier League will lock horns in Match 4 at the Wankhede Stadium and both KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya will look to start their respective campaigns on a positive note. Let’s look at GT vs LSG Match Prediction.
It is the Titans against the Super Giants in this fourth match of the 2022 IPL. Both are new franchises and, in a way, it is the perfect opportunity to find the stronger of the two. The Gujarat Titans had an underwhelming time at the auction table, while the Lucknow Super Giants were one of the few teams to almost perfectly execute their plans.
Gujarat would still feel confident heading into the game, though, with two lethal fast bowlers up front. We all know what Lockie Ferguson and Mohammed Shami can do in seam-friendly conditions (especially in a ground like Wankhede), while Gujarat also have Rashid Khan to stifle one end effortlessly. Although the middle order looks fragile, in a small ground like Wankhede, Gujarat will have enough firepower to muscle their way out of trouble. However, the top three of Matthew Wade, Shubman Gill and Abhinav Manohar will have to be patient, since once you negate the new shining ball, there are always runs to be had at the Wankhede.
Lucknow themselves are no slouch either, since they boast one of the best playing XIs on paper. They have arguably the best top order among all teams, with KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock and Manish Pandey, while a middle order of Marcus Stoinis, Deepak Hooda, Jason Holder and Krunal Pandya provides enough depth and experience for the likes of KL and Pandey to play free and expansive cricket — something they couldn’t do with their previous franchises. Moreover, the express duo of Mark Wood and Avesh Khan should come in more than handy, while the spin department will be carried by Ravi Bishnoi.-
With the potency in both their bowling attacks, the team navigating the Powerplay overs smartly should be the one coming out on top.

Don’t expect the pitch to play out any differently to the one used in the first match. It’ll be a batting paradise with ample assistance for the quicks while the sticky nature of the surface would bring the likes of Rashid Khan and Ravi Bishnoi into play. While chasing has been preferred by most teams with due coming into play later on, teams in the past have shown it is possible to win matches here despite batting first. Thus, anything around 200 is defendable while anything below 180 will make it easier for the chasing team even if they lose one or two quick wickets up front.

Batter to watch out for – KL Rahul
The 29-year-old Karnataka boy has arguably been the best Indian batter across all formats in the last couple of years. Nobody has scored more runs than him during this period, and after two sluggish seasons leading the Punjab Kings, Rahul finally has a strong group of players around him, which could only enable him to return to his devastating best. Yes, the only downside to his flawless game over the last couple of seasons has been the lack of aggressive intent on his part. While the PBKS failed to give him that cushion in the middle order to set himself free, the Lucknow Super Giants have enough firepower to allow him that freedom.
Bowler to watch out for – Mohammed Shami
The 31-year-old has only played Test matches in recent months, but his performances in red-ball cricket suggests that the India international will be a huge threat, especially in the Powerplay overs with his accurate and sharp line and length. In his last five Tests, Shami has taken 19 wickets, and he will likely be the source of important breakthroughs given Gujarat are solely reliant on his and Lockie Ferguson’s services to get some crucial wickets at the start.
Wicket Keepers – KL Rahul (c), Matthew Wade
Batters – Evin Lewis, Deepak Hooda, Shubman Gill
All Rounder – Rahul Tewatia

Today’s match prediction
Given how the pitch behaved during the CSK vs KKR game, and taking into account other factors like dew, the bowling and batting combination of the two sides, it is the Lucknow Super Giants who should comfortably see out this game and register their first-ever IPL victory.
