Match 69 of the 2022 TATA Indian Premier League brings us live action from the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai for the clash between the Mumbai Indians and the Delhi Capitals.
The Mumbai Indians are placed bottom of the table with just three wins from their thirteen games. This is the first time that they have finished last in the table in IPL history and will be looking forward to next year’s campaign already, hoping to revamp their squad and compete for glory once again. They are playing their last game of the season against the Delhi Capitals and will be looking to end their disappointing campaign on a high note.
That being said, the Delhi Capitals are placed fifth in the table with seven wins and six defeats from their thirteen games. They won their previous outing against the Punjab Kings by 17 runs courtesy of brilliant bowling from Shardul Thakur, who picked up four wickets. To make things simple, should the DC win, they will qualify for the Playoffs and will knock the Royal Challengers Bangalore out in the process. Therefore, the Capitals’ fate lies in their own hands. The Punjab Kings and the SunRisers Hyderabad are already knocked out due to Bangalore’s last-night victory over the Gujarat Titans.
The last remaining spot of the Playoffs is up for grabs, and it all comes down to Match 69.
The last match played at the Wankhede stadium between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Gujarat Titans proved to be a belter of a track to bat upon. The Titans managed to put up 168 runs on board, which proved below par due to some marvellous batting from the Royal Challengers, who chased the total down in just 19 overs, signifying the aid the pitch provided to the batters.
Considering the record, the captain winning the toss will be comfortable chasing and look to restrain the team batting first to a considerable total.

Batter to watch out for: Mitchell Marsh
Mitchell Marsh has been brilliant with the bat and has also supported with the ball this campaign. He has proved to be a crucial asset for the Delhi Capitals and has scored 251 runs in his seven games while also picking up four wickets in those games. He is in top form with the bat, having scored 63 runs off just 48 balls in the last game, and will be looking to carry forward this form in the next game and take his side through to the Playoffs, which makes him my batter to watch out for in Game 69.
Bowler to watch out for: Shardul Thakur
Shardul Thakur has transformed himself into a great all-rounder. He is a healthy contributor with the ball and can also bat and provide valuable runs at the end of an innings. This season, he has picked up 13 wickets in 13 games and has also scored 116 runs in 9 innings. He is in top form with the ball as he picked up 4 wickets in his previous game against the Punjab Kings. He will be looking to be among the wicket-takers in Game 69 as well. Be sure to have him in your fantasy team.
Ishan Kishan, David Warner (c), Rohit Sharma, Tilak Varma, Tim David, Mitchell Marsh (vc), Daniel Sams, Ramandeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Shardul Thakur
As things stand, the Delhi Capitals’ fate lies in their own hands. A win will take them through to the Playoffs, whereas a defeat will result in the Royal Challengers Bangalore going through.
For now, Bangalore can only wait and watch, and hope the Mumbai Indians beat the Capitals for them. Delhi will have to be at their very best in order to emerge victorious.
Both the teams look hungry for a victory, but I predict the Capitals to emerge victorious and qualify for the Playoffs.
