Manchester United Unveils the Adidas Third Kit

August 12, 2021

Manchester United revealed their stylish third kit for the 2021/22 season on Thursday.

The new Adidas blue and black kit is a tribute to the iconic black away kit United wore during their 1993/94 double-winning campaign. The new kit with black and blue hues and a modern look with yellow highlights perfectly resemble the 93-94 edition.

The campaign for the kit also highlights the legacy of United and its hunger to continue searching for glory. The message behind the new kit is inspired by the same winning mentality and philosophy that was instilled by Sir Alex Ferguson, who takes center stage in the campaign. The campaign also features current players such as Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba, new signing Jadon Sancho, and women’s team players like Katie Zelem, Millie Turner, and Kirsty Smith.

A club statement on the occasion of the launch of the kit read, “And last but not least, here we are. After the launches of our home and away kit, we’re excited to present our third kit in collaboration with Adidas to our amazing fans all over the world. We are who we are because of this great city known as Manchester, a city that has become a beacon and a way of life for millions all over the world. This season’s third kit is inspired by the icons of our past and the icons of right now. As the likes of Eric Cantona and George Best have cemented their status as legends, now is the time for our players to make their mark. Fit for kings and queens, this season’s third shirt pays homage to the away shirt from the 1993/94 season when United retained the Premier League title and also won the FA Cup to complete the club’s first-ever Double.”

The third kit isn’t the only kit that is a tribute to the olden days. All of United’s kits this season have a throwback vibe. The home kit, which has a round white neck and sleeve cuffs, is a throwback to the jerseys won by George Best, Bobby Charlton, and Dennis Law back in the 1960s. The away kit, which is light blue and white, gives the nod to the classic United change strip worn between 1990 to 1992, just before the Premier League era.

Make sure to catch all the jersey in action, when United kick off their 2021/22 Premier League campaign on Saturday, 14th August against Leeds United.
