Major League Soccer extends Adidas partnership

February 27, 2023

The US topflight of professional football, Major League Soccer (MLS), has announced a multi-year partnership extension of its deal with German sportswear and sports equipment giant Adidas. The deal is reported to be worth US$830 million.

Adidas will continue on as the Official Supplier of MLS, its clubs, and the youth academies. Adidas, one of the founding and strategic partners of MLS, will continue to work towards helping the league grow both on and off the field and will work with MLS NEXT and MLS NEXT Pro in this regard as well.

The renewed partnership will also see the two parties continue working towards growing the sport and enhancing the football culture in the States. Adidas will also launch new initiatives to empower, support and inspire future generations of players and fans ahead of the men’s FIFA World Cup in 2026.

The agreement will also see Adidas continue on as the Official Sponsor, Footwear Provider and Apparel Provider of MLS. It will also become the presenting partner of the MLS NEXT Golden Ball (MVP) and the MLS NEXT Best XI.

Adidas will continue providing all MLS clubs with jerseys, footwear, training gear and sideline apparel, while also supplying the official match ball for all MLS properties — including MLS NEXT Pro and MLS NEXT.

Don Garber, Commissioner, MLS, said:

We are so pleased to extend our partnership with Adidas, the leading soccer brand in the world,” said MLS Commissioner. Adidas has been helping to drive the popularity of MLS and the sport of soccer in North America for generations and we look forward to working closely with them to accelerate our growth leading into and following the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Bjørn Gulden, CEO, Adidas, added:

We are very proud to be extending our partnership with Major League Soccer. It is incredible to see the growth and success of the League and soccer in North America and the work that has been done. Soccer is an important part of our history and who we are at adidas. We are committed to helping grow the game and could not be more excited as we approach the 2026 World Cup hosted by the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

Adidas and MLS have been long-standing partners — since 1996.
