Valtteri Bottas – Salary and Sponsors

March 11, 2022

Finnish veteran Valtteri Bottas joined the Mercedes F1 team in 2017 and has played a key role in them winning four consecutive Constructors’ Championships in F1, securing nine wins and 53 podium finishes in his time with Mercedes. In 2021, the 32-year-old announced that he would be joining Alfa Romeo as their new driver, as Mercedes brought in George Russell to replace him.
Valtteri was somewhat mistreated in the Mercedes camp and always had to play second fiddle to Lewis Hamilton. Mercedes have stated that Bottas didn’t reach the expectations set for him by the team. However, there have also been several instances where they have told him to make way or hold back just so Hamilton could win the race.
Going into 2022, Bottas will start the season with a fresh mindset and a completely new challenge ahead of him. Working with his former boss Fred Vasseur at Alfa Romeo, Bottas will be in a safe space and look forward to proving all his doubters wrong.

Valtteri Bottas’ Sponsors

Assa Abloy

Swedish conglomerate Assa Abloy partnered up with Bottas in 2019, ahead of the start of the 2019 F1 season. The company is famous for its locks and security systems, with its products being used at the Eiffel Tower, the Palace of Versailles and the Presidential Palace in the UAE.

In 2020, the two parties extended this partnership, with Bottas becoming a brand ambassador for Abloy UK. As part of the deal, Bottas is the face of Assa Abloy’s “For Trust” campaign, which celebrates the brand’s strategy to innovate the security sector.

Polar

In June 2020, Polar, a Finnish sporting company, tied up with Bottas. Bottas was an avid user of the company’s heart rate measuring technology long before the partnership officially began. He used its sports technology equipment for his training and fitness regime.
Bottas uses the Polar Grit X for his pre-season training and also when he goes on hiking and cycling through the Finnish terrains.

InsiJets

InsiJets is a cost-effective private aeroplane company which sponsors Bottas. As a part of this partnership, Bottas serves as a brand ambassador for the company, for which he has been a part of several digital campaigns.
As part of the deal, Bottas also gets to use InsiJets’ services during the off-season for both business and leisure travels.

Valtteri Bottas’ Previous Sponsors

Kemppi

A Finland-based arc welding company, Kemppi had been sponsoring Bottas since 2007. It had been investing in the Mercedes driver since his youth days, but it has reportedly terminated its partnership with him recently.

Wihuri

A Finnish conglomerate, Wihuri was a long-time sponsor of Bottas, having tie-ups with both Mercedes and the Finn largely due to the company’s CEO being a former racing driver. But in 2019, citing monetary issues and poor performances from Valtteri, Wihuri terminated this association.
