Portugal national football team sponsors 2023

This article contains information regarding the organisations enjoying a strong branding presence across the Portugal national football team’s physical and digital assets as sponsors and partners of the Portuguese Football Federation.

Name of the football association: Portuguese Football Federation (Portuguese: Federação Portuguesa de Futebol; FPF)

Nike

The American sportswear giant serves as the official kit supplier for all 25 of the FPF’s association football, beach football and futsal teams. The FPF and Nike have been partners since 1997, with their deal last extended in a seven-year agreement in October 2017.

In June 2023, reports emerged stating that the FPF had decided to end its long-standing partnership with Nike to sign with German brand Puma, starting January 2025.

Hertz

Portuguese car rental firm Hertz also serves as an official sponsor to the FPF.

Sagres

Owned by Sociedade Central de Cervejas, Portuguese beer brand Sagres has been an official sponsor of the FPF since 1993. The sponsorship grants Sagres pouring rights during the FPF’s national teams’ matches. Sagres’ logo can be seen on the front of Portugal’s pre-match and training kits.

The current agreement between Sagres and the FPF, signed in September 2022, is set to run until 2028.

Altice/PT

Lisbon-headquartered Portugal’s largest telecom company Altice/PT has been a major sponsor of the FPF for over 20 years.

The sponsorship has seen the FPF and Altice/PT work together over several projects on the technological side of the sport, as well as several fan engagement campaigns featuring some of Portugal’s most famous players. The Altice/PT logo can be seen on the Portugal men’s national football team’s pre-match and training kits.

The current agreement between Altice and the FPF, signed in November 2017, is set to run until 2024.

Continente

The Matosinhos-headquartered Portuguese retail chain first joined hands with the FPF in November 2020 for the “Todos por Todos” campaign, which aimed at procuring as many essential goods as possible until December 31, 2020, which were then distributed among the poor Portuguese family affected most by the COVID pandemic.

The partnership between the two parties was extended in May 2021 to also include the FPF’s senior women’s and U21 men’s national teams. In July 2023, Continente also became a sponsor of the Primeira Liga.

Jogos Santa Casa

Portuguese betting firm Jogos Santa Casa is a long-time sponsor of the Portugal men’s national football team.

Galp Energia

The Lisbon-headquartered energy corporation has been an official sponsor of the FPF since 1999.

In May 2021, to celebrate Portugal’s participation in the 2020 UEFA Euros, Galp introduced a limited-edition version of the board game “Monopoly”, which could be availed by acquiring stamps upon purchase from Galp’s gas stations and stores.

In November 2022, Galp pledged that it would offset the CO2 emitted by the Portugal men’s national football team during their 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign.

Sacoor Brothers

Lisbon-headquartered luxury fashion brand Sacoor Brothers has served as the official fashion partner of the Portugal senior men’s national football team since June 2018. The deal sees Sacoor Brothers provide bespoke formalwear to the team’s players and the non-playing staff for their international outings.

Banco BPI

Owned by CaixaBank, Porto-headquartered financial institution Banco Português de Investimento (BPI) announced a partnership with the FPF in July 2018, becoming an official sponsor of the football association’s national men’s, women’s, and their respective U21 sides. BPI replaced Lisbon-headquartered Portuguese bank Novo Banco in the same capacity. 

As per the terms of the partnership between the two parties, BPI and the FPF work together over several social responsibility initiatives. The current agreement between the two parties, signed in June 2022, is set to run until 2024.

CUF

The Portuguese chain of private clinics and hospitals also serves as an official sponsor to the FPF. The sponsorship sees CUF provide its vast array of services and support to the FPF’s national teams. The current deal between the two parties is set to run until 2024.

Sport TV

The Portuguese sports-oriented premium cable and satellite television network is the broadcaster for majority of the domestic Portuguese football matches as well as all international matches of the Portugal men’s national football team.

Huohu Sports

The Asian sports entertainment platform serves as the Official Asian Partner to the FPF.

Yili

The Hohhot, Inner Mongolia-headquartered Chinese dairy products and bottled water brand was announced as a sponsor of the Portugal men’s national football team in June 2022.

Vatti

The Chinese kitchen appliance brand was announced as a sponsor of the Portugal men’s national football team ahead of the 2022 men’s FIFA World Cup. The partnership entails Vatti holding branding rights for FPF and its players’ images for promotional purposes.

Amul

The Anand-headquartered Indian dairy giant was announced as a regional sponsor of the Portugal men’s national football team in India ahead of the 2022 Qatar World Cup in November 2022. The deal sees Amul produce Portugal-team-branded products for sale in the Indian market.

Vodafone Portugal

The Portuguese division of Newbury-headquartered British multinational telecom giant Vodafone, along with Altice and NOS, signed a distribution rights agreement with the FPF in November 2018 for its channel “11”, which was launched in March 2019 to provide special focus on the Portugal national women’s football, youth football, beach football and futsal teams.

In the past, Vodafone Portugal has also served as a main sponsor to the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira, which is the equivalent of England’s FA Community Shield.

Placard

Jogos Santa Casa’s sports betting brand Picard joined the FPF sponsorship portfolio in July 2019, when it signed a futsal-oriented deal with the governing body to become title sponsor of its national futsal competitions (Campeonato Nacional da I Divisão de Futsal, Taça de Portugal, Taça da Liga and Supertaça).
