Having originally started as an ill-tempered youngster, Federer transformed his on-court demeanour to become one of the most level-headed and tactically astute players in the game. After winning his first Wimbledon title in 2003 aged 21, the Swiss prodigy went on to dominate the world of tennis for the next seven years.

In 2004, he announced himself to the world by winning three out of the four possible major titles and ATP Finals — a feat he repeated in 2006 and 2007. From 2005-2010, the Swiss maestro made it to 18 out of the 19 Grand Slam finals, winning 11 of them. After dominating men’s tennis with the likes of Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, his 20 Grand Slams and 103 ATP titles rank him among the greatest ever players to ever grace the tennis court. The 2022 Laver Cup was the backdrop for his farewell as fans and peers saw the maestro at work at a competitive level one last time.
