BBL 2025/26 | Match 32: Adelaide Strikers vs Perth Scorchers | Preview and Predictions

Adelaide Strikers will take on Perth Scorchers in Match 32 of the ongoing 2025/26 Big Bash League at Adelaide Oval on 11th January 2026.

Both teams come into this contest on the back of losing their most recent league fixtures. The Strikers were humbled by table-toppers Hobart Hurricanes while the Scorchers lost against the Melbourne Renegades in a low-scoring affair, making this one a crucial four-pointer for both sides.

Here, we present our preview and predictions for Match 32 between the Strikers and the Scorchers.

BBL 15 Match 32: Strikers vs Scorchers | 13:45 IST, January 11, 2026

The Adelaide Strikers have shown mixed form this campaign – sitting in sixth position on the league standings after accruing three wins and four defeats so far this season. With just two points separating the two sides, a victory will see the Strikers draw level on points with the Scorchers, however, a loss will make things much more difficult.

Batting inconsistency has plagued much of their BBL|15 campaign and against the Hobart Hurricanes in their last game, it was the same old story again. Apart from Liam Scott scoring a magnificent 91 off 58 deliveries, no one in the Strikers batting lineup crossed the 10-run mark – except left-arm seamer Luke Wood who added 11. Skipper Matthew Short is the only other consistent batter in this highly out of form batting unit.

The bowling attack has relied heavily on Lloyd Pope and Jamie Overton, who share 22 wickets between them. Luke Wood has been efficient with the new ball, picking up eight wickets, while Pakistani seamer Hassan Ali has also chipped in with seven wickets in five matches, giving their bowling attack a much better outlook in comparison to their batters.

Three straight wins on the bounce saw the Perth Scorchers climb as high as second on the points table, however, a slip-up against the Melbourne Renegades has now dropped them down to third, level on points with Sydney Sixers and Brisbane Heat, respectively. Thus, a win gives them some breathing room, while a defeat allows the rest of the chasing pack to catch up or possibly dethroned them from the top-four spots.

In the batting department, it has been a complete team performance with everyone in the top-five contributing to their cause, which is a big plus when compared to some of their competitors. All-rounder Aaron Hardie and opener Mitchell Marsh lead the run-scoring chart with 220 and 191 runs respectively, with the likes of Finn Allen, Cooper Connolly and skipper Ashton Turner close behind.

In the bowling attack, Joel Paris has been the pick of the bunch with eleven wickets. The likes of Aaron Hardie, Cooper Connolly and Brody Couch have provided able support, but the Scorchers lacked wicket-taking threat elsewhere. Thus, the addition of Jhye Richardson and David Payne gives them a much needed boost ahead of this crucial last set of fixtures.

In terms of weather forecast and pitch report, the weather will be clear and pleasant. The pitch remains hard and true throughout the game, and it is evident from the fact that two out of the three BBL|15 matches at Adelaide Oval have been won by the side chasing, so it’s fair to assume that the team winning the toss will look to bowl first.

Looking ahead to this fixture, both teams are in desperate need of a win to further cement their bids for a playoff berth and potentially the BBL|15 title. This is perhaps the last chance for Adelaide Strikers to get their act together – especially in the batting department – while the Perth Scorchers will want to forget their recent batting blemish and look to deliver more of what they’ve been doing this season. Despite playing away from home, on current form, we’re backing the Perth Scorchers to win this contest.

Fantasy XI: Mitchell Marsh, Matthew Short, Cooper Connolly, Liam Scott (vc), Aaron Hardie (c), Jamie Overton, Ashton Turner, Joel Paris, Luke Wood, David Payne, Lloyd Pope

Venue: Adelaide Oval, Adelaide

Winners Prediction: Perth Scorchers
