In October 2021, Football Sports Development (FSDL) and one of south Asia’s leading esports firms NODWIN Gaming joined forces to launch the eISL, the Indian Super League’s (ISL) first steps in competitive gaming. The eISL was launched in collaboration with EA Sports, with NODWIN Gaming serving as the tournament organiser.
The eISL sees a total of 11 clubs participate, with each club fielding two athletes.
eISL Season 2 kicked off in February 2023 and will last till May 2023. The winners will also get a chance to take part in the EA Sports FIFA 23 Global Series (FGS) qualifiers.
eISL Season 1 was won by Chennaiyin FC, who took down Mumbai City FC in the finals. FC Goa and East Bengal were the other teams in the top four.
