IPL 2026 | Match 14: DC vs GT | Preview and Prediction

A winless Gujarat Titans will be looking to change their form as well as fortunes as they take on a supremely confident and high-flying Delhi Capitals in a high-stakes and high-octane clash in Match Number 14 of the 2026 IPL season.

Here is our Preview and Predictions for the game.

IPL 2026 | Match 14: Delhi Capitals vs Gujarat Titans | 19:30, 08 April

The Gujarat Titans will be silently kicking themselves and their poor fortune after finding themselves on the losing sides in both the games, which were closely-contested matches. In both these games, they managed to take the game right up until the last over, but failed to cross the finish line on both instances.

In their game against the Rajasthan Royals, they seemed to be matching the required run-rate, but once again, the soft belly of their middle-order was exposed in ruthless fashion. Glenn Phillips and Washington Sundar both failed to trouble the scorers much, and Kumar Kushagra, who got a chance to open proceedings in the absence of the injured Shubman Gill, failed to make a strong case for him as well, making just 18 off 14 balls in a chase that required an aggressive start up top.

Despite that, the depth in the GT batting lineup meant that Rashid Khan and Kagiso Rabada almost managed to squeak their side over the line, if not for a peerless last over bowled by Tushar Deshpande, who accounted for Rashid in that final over to ice the game.

The bowling was under-par, with all the bowlers going above 9 runs per over. However, the rise of speedster Ashok Sharma is a welcome sight, with his ferocious pace and good command over line and length enhancing his reputation.

The batting has finally seen B Sai Sudharsan recapture the form that saw him win the Orange Cap last season, with his 44-ball-73 showing the glimpses of what he can do when he is on song. Jos Buttler finally showed some signs of his swashbuckling self in his brief stay out in the middle, but if the Titans have to start winning matches, they will have to learn to hold their nerve in moments that will change the match because those are the moments where the games are won or lost.

Their opponents, on the other hand, have had no such problems. The Delhi Capitals have raced out of the blocks, having won both of their opening games, and what stands out in those victories is that they have won a close game against Lucknow Super Giants, and then followed it with a rather convincing victory against Mumbai Indians on Saturday.

If there is one player that stands out in both these victories for the Capitals, it is Sameer Rizvi. Coming it at number 4, he first shepherded what was a tricky chase against LSG before tearing the Mumbai attack to smithereens in an audacious display of power-hitting to chase down a tricky total. He currently sits atop the Orange Cap standings, and it looks like this is the season that he finally announces himself in full flow.

The bowling has been strong and formidable, with Mukesh Kumar leading the charge, and despite the poor form of KL Rahul in the opening two games, the batting has more than held its own in the first two games, though it would add a further layer of quality if Rahul does indeed find form quickly, ideally this game.

Gujarat desperately need a win to kickstart their campaign, while Delhi will look to add another win to their kitty while making sure that all the bases are covered. With the Delhi pitch that was a tad bit tricky for shot-making and run scoring, expect the spinners and the slower deliveries to play a big role.

We believe that the Delhi Capitals are the strong favourites to win this match, although the game would be much closer if Shubman Gill is announced fit to play.

Fantasy 11: B Sai Sudharsan, KL Rahul, Jos Buttler (wk), Sameer Rizvi ( c ), David Miller, Axar Patel, Tristan Stubbs, Rashid Khan, Kagiso Rabada, Mukesh Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav. Prasidh Krishna (Impact Player)

Venue: Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi
