The Leagues Cup has signed a multi-year agreement with German sportswear giant Adidas, which will be serving as an Official Partner and the Official Match Ball Provider to the tournament featuring sides from Major League Soccer (MLS) and Liga MX.
Adidas will be providing balls for Leagues Cup matches and training sessions as well as youth kits for the player mascot programmes. It will also provide fans with various fan engagement activities, through which young fans will be able to meet the players.
The Leagues Cup had its first edition in 2019 and was launched following a successful partnership between MLS and Liga MX to grow football in North America. This year will see the third edition of the Leagues Cup be held between July 21 and August 19, 2023.
Carter Ladd, Executive Vice President of Soccer United Marketing, commented:
“adidas has been synonymous with Major League Soccer since the League’s inception in 1996, and we are so pleased to create another chapter in our storied history together. As the inaugural Leagues Cup 2023 will be a special experience for fans in this region of the world, it’s a privilege to have adidas with us on this journey who share the same dedication to continuing to drive the sport of soccer forward.“
Skate Noftsinger, Director of Sports Marketing at Adidas, said:
“We look forward to working as a collective with MLS, Liga MX, and Leagues Cup to build communities, activate fandoms, and grow the game of soccer across the continent. This partnership will set the foundation for the future of the sport in North America, and Adidas could not be happier to continue playing a central role.“
Adidas extended its long-standing partnership with MLS earlier this year in February.
