Australia vs Pakistan 3rd ODI: Preview and Predictions

Series on the line as Pakistan come in with momentum

After a narrow loss in the opening game, Pakistan bounced back in style in Adelaide as Haris Rauf ran through the Australian batting lineup to give Pakistan their first ODI win in Australia since 2017. With the series tied up, the action moves to Perth for the series decider.

Ahead of the series decider here’s our match preview and predictions.

Australia vs Pakistan 3rd ODI | Pakistan tour of Australia 2024 | 09:00 IST, November 10

Mohammad Rizwan put Australia to bat first and barring Steve Smith, none of the batters seem to be able to keep up with the Pakistani quicks. Shaheen Shah Afridi knocked off the openers early on before Haris Rauf’s five-wicket haul bundled Australia out for 163. Chasing a low target on a pitch which was providing something for the quicks was tricky but Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique put on a stunning 137-run opening partnership which saw Pakistan sail home to a nine-wicket win.

For the visitors, right from the toss, nothing went right. Matthew Short and Jake Fraser-McGurk got sent back to the pavilion early by Afridi and while it looked like Smith would bail them out once again with Josh Inglis, Smith fell chasing a wide one before Rauf came and knocked over the remainder of the Australian batters. Both games has seen the Australian batting lineup struggle to get going and barring Smith and Inglis, none of their batters have looked comfortable against the Pakistani quicks.

Moving to Perth for the decider, it will be advantage Pakistan, not only because of the way their bowlers have troubled the Australian batters but also because a couple of the Border-Gavaskar trophy participants from the Australian squad have left the squad and Australia will field a relatively young and inexperienced squad with Inglis leading the team. This is Pakistan’s best chance to secure a historic series win and all the signs are pointing towards a Pakistan win.

Fantasy XI: Abdullah Shafique, Babar Azam,Jake Fraser-McGurk, Josh Inglis, Mohammad Rizwan, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Adam Zampa, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah

Venue: Perth

Winners Prediction: Pakistan
