Cape Verde entered this tournament as rank outsiders, but they are now the heart and soul and the undisputed darlings of this World Cup following two draws against two former World Cup winners.
Both those draws showcased multiple facets of the way they play. The draw against Spain highlighted their extremely organised and compact defensive approach, where they continued to soak the pressure and did not wilt under the increasing intensity of the Spanish attack while not letting their focus slip even for one moment, getting them their first-ever point in World Cups.
Their 2-2 draw against Uruguay went on to show their adventure in attack. They broke at will and tested the Uruguay defense time and again, looking dangerous every time they had the ball at their feet. Speed was their biggest ally as they just took 2-3 passes before breaking into opposition territory.
A win here will take them to the knockouts stages of the tournament, and further enhance their reputation while also repping Africa on the biggest stage of them all.
Saudi Arabia have their work cut out for them in terms of qualifying for the knockout stages. The 4-0 loss against Spain has put a massive dent on their goal difference and they looked very very poor in a game where they could have made a massive difference to shake the balance of power in that group.
Saudi will look for that early goal and try to make the game as open as possible so that they can take advantage of the spaces offered to them and build on their advantage.
