Portuguese club sign Betano as Official Betting Partner.
Primeira Liga (Liga Portugal Bwin) side FC Porto have become the sixth Portuguese club to sign a partnership with Greek betting operator Betano.
Following Sporting Lisbon, SL Benfica, SC Braga, Marítimo and Os Belenenses, Porto’s new partnership with the Kaizen Gaming-owned brand also sees Betano become the front-of-shirt sponsor for Porto’s handball team. Betano joins the Portuguese football club as their Official Betting Partner.
Panos Konstantopoulos, Chief Marketing Officer of Kaizen Gaming, said:
“We are thrilled to announce our partnership with FC Porto, an historical club in Europe, with numerous trophies, both domestic and Europeans. We are looking forward to start working with this great club, and, just like we do with all of our partners, to plan a number of social initiatives. This sponsorship agreement shows, once again, the importance of the Portuguese market to Kaizen Gaming.”
Porto’s Director of Commercial, Rui Lousa, added:
“For us this is an extremely important agreement, as we are always looking to partner with strong partners, especially in an area as important as this. It was an easy understanding, because there was a great desire on the part of both parties to close this agreement. We are very pleased to have Betano as Betting Sponsor and our wish is that this will be a good partnership for everyone.”
The deal follows the announcement that Betano had lost to Entain’s bwin to secure the title sponsorship of the Primeira Liga. It is reported that Betano had agreed terms with the country’s top-flight football league on a €5.5m-a-season four-year deal, but due to legal hassles, the Greek firm lost out.
Outside the country, Betano also has deals with Brazil’s Fluminense, Atlético Mineiro, Greece’s Olympiacos, PAOK Salónica, Romania’s Univ. Craiova, and Cyprus’ Apoel, Omonia, Apoolon Limassol and Pafos FC.
