Harry Kane extends Leyton Orient deal for Mental Health Charity

England men’s football team captain Harry Kane has extended his shirt sponsorship for the 2022-23 season with Leyton Orient Football Club, continuing his support for improving mental health. The partnership covers the London-based club’s men’s and women’s teams and has been running for the past two seasons. The partnership will see mental health charity Shout serve as Leyton Orient’s front-of-shirt sponsor for the upcoming season.

As per the deal, 10% of the proceeds from each shirt sale will be donated to charity. For the last two seasons, home shirts were dedicated to the “Thank You Frontline Heroes” message in aid of Barts Charity and to Tommy Club as part of the Royal British Legion Industries. This year, both the club and Harry Kane are happy to dedicate it to Shout, the UK’s only free, confidential, 24/7 text support service for mental health.

Commenting on the recent deal, Harry Kane said:

“I am thrilled to be sponsoring Leyton Orient’s kits for a third season. I was born only a couple of miles from Orient’s stadium and am really happy to give back to the Club that gave me my first professional start.

“I am pleased to welcome Shout to this partnership. Covid has presented many challenges, and these have affected the mental health and wellbeing of many people. Shout provide a vital helpline and resources to the public, helping to positively improve mental health and wellbeing.

“The special charities I have chosen for the front of shirts all mean a lot to me, and I hope this platform will help them receive the exposure and support they need.

Victoria Hornby OBE, CEO of charity Mental Health Innovations, which runs Shout, also said:

“We are incredibly grateful to Leyton Orient and Harry Kane for choosing Shout as the sponsor for this season’s home shirt. It will be a huge help in raising awareness of the importance of mental health, and making people aware of how to access support if they need it.

“Shout takes 2,000 text conversations a day with children and adults across the UK who are struggling to cope with stress, anxiety, depression, loneliness, suicidal thoughts and much more.

“Every penny raised through the partnership will enable us to take more conversations that could save lives. We want to let Orient fans – and football fans across the nation – know that we are here for you, 24/7, for whatever you’re going through.”

Josh Stephens, Head of Commercial from Leyton Orient FC, stated:

“This partnership continues to deliver. During last season, we were fortunate enough to welcome hundreds of guests from last season’s charity partners, and giving these guests a safe space to come to has been nothing short of an absolute delight. We know we have some new O’s fans, and we can’t wait to welcome them back. Mental health continues to be a key driver for both Harry and the Club and we are extremely pleased to welcome Shout. The Club and all associated with it would like to thank Harry and his team for their continual support for what is an amazing gesture that has continued to be a magical partnership.
