ICC Champions Trophy 2025 | Match 11: South Africa vs England | Preview and Predictions

Match 11 of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy brings us an exciting encounter between South Africa and England which will be contested at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on 1st March 2025.

ICC Champions Trophy 2025 | Match 11 South Africa vs England | 14:30 IST, March 1st

The Proteas are coming into this crucial Group B encounter on the back of a washed out game against Australia in Rawalpindi. While their opponents England were humbled and knocked out of the competition by the high-flying Afghans in a thrilling encounter at the Gaddafi Stadium.

Based on their clinical win against Afghanistan in their first game of Group B, South Africa emerged as the more settled and balanced side out of the two, while the gulf in quality between these two sides in recent years is a testament to where these nations stand currently.

Most of the South African batters looked in decent touch and with the return of middle overs destructor Heinrich Klassen, South Africa boasts one of the best batting line-ups alongside India in this tournament. Their bowlers did well as an attack against Afghanistan, however, with England’s struggles against spinners, it’s very likely Tabraiz Shamsi gets a run-in in this game.

Despite a slew of talented players at their disposal, the current team under Jos Buttler can’t seem to catch a break. There have been moments of individual brilliance on patches but over the full 100 overs, they’ve hardly been consistent.

Middle overs have emerged as the nemesis for England both in the batting and bowling departments. Losing wickets in clusters during batting and leaking runs while bowling have been England’s biggest problems this tournament with the Bazball approach hardly boring any fruits.

The wickets in Karachi have favoured batters, with teams batting first posting 300+ scores in each of the last two games. However, unlike Lahore, dew hasn’t affected the last two games at the National Bank Cricket Arena. Thus, the team winning the toss should bat first and defend.

Fantasy XI: Ryan Rickelton, Heinrich Klassen, Jos Buttler, Ben Duckett, Joe Root, David Miller (vc), Liam Livingston, Adil Rashid, Jofra Archer, Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj

Venue: Karachi, Pakistan

Winners Prediction: South Africa
