IPL 2025 | Match 45: MI vs LSG | Preview and Predictions

MI looking to make it five wins in a row

Match 45 of the 2025 Indian Premier League season brings us a clash between the Mumbai Indians and the Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede in Mumbai on April 27.

For the game, here are our preview and predictions.

Indian Premier League 2025 | Match 45: Mumbai Indians vs Lucknow Super Giants | 15:30 IST, April 27

The high-flying Mumbai Indians host Rishabh Pant’s Lucknow Super Giants, who are in a desperate bid to save their IPL 2025 campaign.

After yet another slow start, five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians (MI) have found form with Hardik Pandya’s boys on a four-game win streak, which has pushed them to the upper half of the table, something that looked unlikely after the start they had. The biggest positive for MI with the bat has to be their former captain, Rohit Sharma, finding form with the Indian captain scoring back-to-back 70s in his last two games. Along with Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav has also found some runs and with the likes of Ryan Rickelton, Will Jacks and Hardik Pandya regularly chipping in, the Mumbai team look like a force to be reckoned with.

With the ball, ever since Jasprit Bumrah has returned, even though he hasn’t been amongst the wickets, everyone else around Bumrah has stepped up. Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar have been chipping in with the wickets with the new ball while Bumrah, Mitchell Santner and captain Hardik Pandya have been impactful in the middle and death overs. Overall, Pandya’s squad looks like they have found form at the right time.

While Mumbai have found form, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have been going through a turbulent phase as it looks like Rishabh Pant’s squad is imploding. LSG have been heavily dependent on the top three of Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran for their runs and barring a half-century and a 30 from Ayush Badoni, there has been no contribution with the bat from any of the other LSG batters. Captain Rishabh Pant has been having a nightmare season with the bat, having scored just one fifty plus score and the experienced David Miller hasn’t been able to tee-off either.

With the ball, it’s been Digvesh Rathi, Avesh Khan and Aiden Markram who have been doing the heavy-lifting with Ravi Bishnoi and Shardul Thakur, two bowlers whom Pant would’ve wanted to count on, not yet delivering the goods.

At Wankhede, which has proven to be a touch slower than before, there still will be plenty for the batters and the hosts, Mumbai remain the overwhelming favourites and with their former-captain in red-hot form, expect the hosts to take the win.

Fantasy XI: Rohit Sharma, Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, Suryakumar Yadav, Nicholas Pooran, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Mitchell Santner, Jasprit Bumrah, Digvesh Rathi, Trent Boult, Shardul Thakur

Venue: Wankhede, Mumbai

Winners Prediction: Mumbai Indians
