Jordan vs Argentina | FIFA World Cup 2026 — Group Stage | Preview and Prediction

Already-eliminated Jordan will look to bow out of their maiden World Cup campaign on a high note as they pit their wits against defending champions Argentina in this Group J encounter of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the Albiceleste having already secured their spot in the round of 32 with a perfect record.

For the game, here we present our preview and prediction.

FIFA WC26 | Group J: JOR vs ARG | 07:30 IST, 28 June 2026

Jordan have been very willing and able competitors in their first-ever appearance at the World Cup finals, but it has been a steep learning curve for the Chivalrous Ones, who saw their spirited campaign’s fate sealed after their defeat to Algeria.

But take nothing away from the feisty spirit and sheer force of will displayed by them in the tournament. They pushed Austria all the way and made them sweat for their victory, while they were ahead against Algeria for the longest time and were threatening to upset the African giants. However, their shortcomings in dead-ball situations came back to haunt them at the most inopportune moment, as they went from being 1–0 up to 2–1 down in the space of minutes, and that was ultimately the difference between them fighting for a spot in the knockouts and having their elimination confirmed.

As for Argentina, they are sitting pretty and look like a force to be reckoned with. Lionel Messi continues to bedazzle at the grandest stage of them all and has scored all his side’s goals thus far. But that does not mean the others have done nothing; the defence is yet to concede a goal, while the midfield is functioning smoothly as they look to build with Messi as their conduit in attack.

We believe that Argentina will be too much for the Jordanians to handle here, and despite the likelihood of the defending champions fielding a much-changed side for this game, they will remain the overwhelming favourites to win it.

Score Predictions: Jordan 1–4 Argentina
Venue: Dallas Stadium, Arlington, Texas, USA
