Léna Bühler to compete in Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine in 2024

Léna Bühler, who finished runner-up in the 2023 F1 Academy season, is moving to the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA).

Making her FRECA debut in 2024, the Swiss racer will continue to race for ART Grand Prix.

Bühler, the first-ever female member of the Sauber Academy, will make her FRECA debut in May later this year in Hockenheim, Germany.

Speaking about her move to FRECA, Léna Bühler commented:

I have learned a great deal with ART Grand Prix in F1 Academy and I’m proud to have been able to fight for the title right to the end. I’m also very proud to be continuing my progress within this team, which has so much experience and knowledge. I’m back in FRECA and I know it’s going to be a huge challenge, because it’s an ultra-competitive championship and it’s hard to get everything together to get the maximum of your potential and that of the car. That’s why I’m not setting myself any unrealistic goals, and I hope I can make progress both sportively and personally.”

Beat Zehnder, Sauber Academy Director, added:

We are proud to see Léna making a step forward in her career, which is a confirmation of the importance of driver development programmes, and we are delighted to continue working with her this season. Léna’s F1 Academy stint was impressive, with a record 13 podium appearances, and we are looking forward to seeing what she can achieve this year. Formula Regional will be an interesting new challenge, and we know she has the talent and the expertise to keep on achieving great things, proudly representing Sauber Academy’s programme all around Europe.

Sébastien Philippe, ART Grand Prix, said:

In 2023, Léna had an excellent season and reaped the rewards of her hard work by winning races and coming close to claiming the first F1 Academy crown. To continue her ascent in motorsport, it’s important to take it to another step, and it’s only logical for ART Grand Prix to accompany her in this new courageous and decisive stage for the continuation of her career.
