Former Indian captain also announced as brand ambassador
Former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has joined Garuda Aerospace, as an investor in the company. India’s leading drone-as-a-service provider based out of Chennai will also have Dhoni join as the brand’s ambassador.
Agnishwar Jayaprakash, founder of Garuda Aerospace, commented,
“I’ve always been an ardent admirer of Mahi Bhai & to have him as a part of the Garuda Aerospace family is honestly a dream come true.
‘Mahi Bhai is the epitome of dedication & I firmly believe that having ‘Captain Cool’ on our table adds tremendous value which will motivate our team to perform better.
‘Dhoni has decided to join us as an investor and brand ambassador. He has seen what we are trying to achieve, and he completely believes in our vision. We couldn’t have asked for a better ambassador and partner.
‘We are closing our $30-million Series A round by the end of July, which will value our company at $250 million. This is the largest ever Series A round for any drone company. Since our Prime Minister inaugurated Drone Mahotsav, we have been receiving a lot of interest.”
Speaking about his partnership with Garuda, Dhoni, said,
“I’m happy to be a part of Garuda Aerospace and look forward to witness their growth story with the unique drone solutions they have to offer.”
Launched in 2015, Garuda has come a long way and was even recognised by Elon Musk last year. The firm provides low-cost-drone-based solutions and has also designed drones for more than 30 applications which include sanitisation, agriculture spraying, mapping, industries, security, delivery and surveillance.
Most recently Garuda received an order from the country’s Ministry of Defence for 33 anti-drone frameworks.
