PUBG Mobile’s CIS Pro League postponed

Pro League postponed in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The PUBG Mobile Pro League (PMPL) CIS 2022 has been postponed following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The PMPL CIS, which is the top-tier regional competition of PUBG Mobile, has 20 teams from across the region competing for the bragging rights as the best in the region along with a hefty prize money of US$150,000.
Most of the PMPL CIS players are from Russia, while there are a handful even from Ukraine. Teams such as 1218, Virtus.pro, ARR Esports, Team Unique, Armed Family, KDV Esports, and Team Raid all have players from Russia and Ukraine.

PUBG Mobile esports team released a statement, which read:
“Dear players and viewers of PUBG MOBILE,
Due to today’s events, the league administration has decided to indefinitely postpone the matches of the current week of the PMPL CIS 2022 spring split.
“We will monitor the development of the situation and share more accurate information about updates to the schedule as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding.”

It is interesting to note, though, that the official statement released by the PMPL CIS team does not mention the crisis or Russia’s stance in it.

The league had started on February 14 and was into the second day of the second week before getting postponed. The Grand Finals were scheduled to be played from March 10 to March 12. The current standings see Virtus.Pro top of the table with 104 points, while Baks Esports hold second spot with 101 and KDV Esports are third with 85 points.
