Uruguayan footballer Ronald Araújo has been revealed as the brand ambassador of fast-food brand Burger King in Uruguay, with the announcement made through a campaign film. The film showcases a man in a yellow suit picking up a newspaper with the headline ‘Ronald signs with Burger King’. He reacts in a surprised manner with the clown dressed like McDonald’s well-known mascot, although all the shots of the clown are from the back so his face is never shown.
As the clown walks across the city, with his back to the camera as we don’t see his face, he gets to the event where Burger King is hosting Ronald and as he’s about to turn to the cameras, the Barcelona defender and Uruguayan national team player comes in as pushes the clown out of the frame.
Ronald Araújo becomes the face of Burger King in Uruguay and will headline campaigns and advertisements for the brand in the country moving forward. The 27-year old defender was a part of the Uruguay squad which took part in the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026. Draws against Saudi Arabia and Cape Verde and a loss to Spain meant that Araújo and co. were eliminated in third place in Group H as they failed to make the Round of 32.
