Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan join Indian Street Premier League (ISPL)

Bollywood actors Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan have been revealed as the owners of the Kolkata-based Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) franchise.

The ISPL, which is India’s first tennis-ball T10 tournament to be played inside a stadium, is scheduled to have its first season held between March 6 and 15 later this year.

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan become the latest celebrities to be involved with the event, with actors such as Amitabh Bachchan (Mumbai), Hrithik Roshan (Bangalore), Akshay Kumar (Srinagar), Ram Charan (Hyderabad) and Suriya (Chennai) having already announced their participation in the league as franchise owners.

The couple jointly released the following statement on the matter:

We are thrilled to embark on this incredible journey with the Indian Street Premier League (ISPL). The partnership with ISPL symbolises both our love for cricket and the vibrant spirit of the City of Joy. Kolkata holds a special place in our hearts with our family’s legacy and connection to the state. Here’s to an exhilarating season where teamwork, talent, and sheer determination lead the way. Our association goes beyond ownership to a shared commitment to the spirit of the format which is designed to inspire a new generation of cricketing talent.

Ashish Shelar, Core Committee Member, ISPL, added:

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s involvement enriches the league’s lineup and injects a fresh energy. To the players in Kolkata, embrace this moment, and let’s craft an unforgettable season together!

Suraj Samat, Commissioner, ISPL, added:
