Scotland and Brazil will face each other on 25th June at the Miami Stadium in this crucial Group C clash to decide the Round of 32 qualification.
For the game, here we present our preview and prediction.
FIFA WC26 | Group C: SCO vs BRA| 03:30 IST, June 25, 2026
Scotland has never made it past the group stage in all of their previous World Cup campaigns but they do have a golden opportunity to upset the apple cart and possibly knock out the former five-time champions Brazil.
Brazil currently sits top of the table ahead of Morocco, courtesy of their 3-0 win against Haiti. A draw would be enough to see them through as Morocco has an easier game against Haiti and if they win that, Brazil and Morocco will qualify for the RO32. Hence, this is a must-win game for Scotland.
Brazil produced a far more convincing performance against Haiti as Matheus Cunha scored a brace and Vinicius Jr. scored the third, continuing his fine form. Haiti could hardly create a scoring opportunity as Brazil controlled the game with higher possession, better expected goals (xG) of 1.75 and five big chances as opposed to Haiti who were mostly trying to survive the onslaught. However, Raphinha limped off with a hamstring injury and will not be available for this crucial fixture – a massive loss for Brazil but the good news is that Neymar Jr might play in this fixture.
As for Scotland, they narrowly lost their game against Morocco where they hardly got a shot at goal. It was a dismal performance from the Scots as they played a really defensive game and didn’t show any intent even after conceding an early goal against Morocco. Ismail Saibari scored the only goal of the match inside two minutes. Neither team tried to show attacking intent or dominate the game as it stretched on, ending in a narrow win for the Atlas Lions.
If Scotland want to win, they will have to start the game positively while ensuring they defend properly. Quality-wise the Brazil side is definitely stronger and the head-to-head record heavily favours Brazil as well. Scotland has never beaten Brazil in a World Cup game before so this would be an unprecedented win if it happens. Even in Raphinha’s absence, Brazil has the attacking prowess to win this game. We believe it should be a close victory for the Selecão, ending Scotland’s knockout dreams.
Score Prediction: Scotland 1-2 Brazil
