T1 crowned as LCK Spring Champions 2022

Korean esports organisation T1 beat Gen.G 3-1 at the LCK Spring Split 2022 grand finals to lift the Spring final crown and became the first team to qualify for the 2022 Mid-Season Invitational (MSI).
The LCK, which is Korea’s professional League of Legends league, sees six teams compete to secure a Mid-Season qualification spot.

T1 started off the finals in a rampant manner, making short work of Gen.G’s defence to take the first game inside half an hour. The second game saw Ryu “Keria” Min-seok start strongly, taking out ark “Ruler” Jae-hyeok’s Xayah, but Gen.G bounced back and by the 20th minute of the second game had almost evened the score, taking down more and more T1 towers. Gen.G’s dragon stack meant they used the Cloud Dragon soul and moved ahead in the second game. Gen.G continued their charge and eventually through some skillful plays by Doran and Chovy, they tied up the series at 1-1.
The final game saw Gen.G’s Peanut almost pull off a Level 2 grank at the top level but T1’s Zeus managed to hold off the attacks. Oner turned on the pressure on Gen.G through another attack on top tane, taking out Doran. T1 kept their focus on the top lane, and even though Gen.G managed to get an early dragon stack lead, Oner continued his strong form. T1 had no problem taking Baron Nashor, and even though Peanut stole a Baron, T1’s lead by then was too big for Gen.G to make a comeback. T1’s Gumayusi’s Jinx delivered the final blow which saw T1 take a 2-1 lead in the grand finals. The fourth game was a show of T1’s dominance, with Oner continuously taking top lane and managed to take down Doran’s Akshan. Gen.G tried and managed to take the first dragon, but T1’s all-round team effort saw them brush aside the Gen.G attack to take the grand finals 3-1 in their favour.

T1’s Faker, who took his 10th title home, spoke about the event, stating:
“My teammates did a fantastic job today so I think I got carried to be honest, but it’s been a while since I’ve won the LCK title so it feels awesome to be on top of the LCK again.
“It’s been a while since we’ve played in front of a large crowd so it was really good and my teammates loved it as well.”

Having taken home their 10 LCK Spilt win, T1 will now look to continue their domination on the international stage when they take the stage at the Mid-Season Invitational which will take place in Busan in May. The Mid-Season Invitational will be T1’s first opportunity to win a major international event in South Korea. T1 are the most successful LoL Pro League team along with Royal Never Give, both of whom have two MSI titles each.
