Match 9 of the Women’s Premier League will play host to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and UP Warriorz at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on 24th February 2025.
Table toppers RCB will be vying for their first win at the Chinnaswamy Stadium against a spirited UP Warriorz side who are coming into this contest on the back of a commanding victory against the Delhi Capitals.
RCB were on the verge of registering their third consecutive victory this season, with the lower order batters on the crease for MI and 22 runs to defend from the last two overs, the ball was on RCB’s court to deliver the sucker punch. However, Amanjot Kaur for Mumbai delivered the hammer blow with two mighty sixes off Kanika Ahuja’s 19th over.
While batting, Ellyse Perry shone with the bat, scoring 81 runs off 43 balls, however, there was very little support from the rest of the batters and RCB eventually stuttered to 167 off their 20 overs.
The UP Warriorz, on the other hand, were struggling at 89 for 6 at one point before Chinelle Henry’s explosive innings (62* runs off 23 balls) catapulted UPW’s score to a competitive 177.
Despite playing on a green top, the UPW spinners were able to restrict the run flow in the Powerplay with key contributions from Kranti Goud and Grace Harris – each taking four wickets – the Warriorz were able to comfortably defend the total.
Looking ahead to this fixture at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, the recent fixtures suggests the pitches have been better for batters compared to Vadodara. Moreover, with no dew in play, teams will look to put up a good score and defend.
Fantasy XI: Richa Ghosh, Ellyse Perry(c), Smriti Mandhana, Chinelle Henry(vc), Georgia Wareham, Grace Harris, Chamari Athapaththu, Kanika Ahuja, Renuka Singh, Sophie Ecclestone
Venue: M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru
