Ballon d’Or 2024 Winners’ List 2023/24

The 68th edition of the Ballon d’Or 2024 gala event was held on the 28th October, 2024 at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. It was hosted by journalist Sandy Héribert and former footballer Didier Drogba. It is the third time in the history of the award, it has been given based on the results of the season instead of the calendar year

Let’s take a look at all the winners from the prestigious awards gala – 

Kopa Trophy – Lamine Yamal 

The Kopa Trophy was awarded to Barcelona and Spain teenage star Lamine Yamal for his exceptional performances for club and country in 2023/24. He was pivotal in the summer with Spain winning the Euro Championships.

Ballon d’ Or – Rodri 

The biggest prize of the 2023/24 season was taken home by Manchester City and Spain midfielder Rodri for his excellent performances for club and country. He won the Premier League title and the Euro Championships with Spain among other top honours. Real Madrid players, Vinicius Jr and Jude Bellingham came second and third.

Women’s Ballon d’Or – Aitana Bonmatí

Aitana Bonmatí won the award for a second time for her exceptional performances for her club Barcelona Femení and country Spain in 2023/24. She won the Women’s La Liga, Spanish Super Cup, Women’s Champions League with Barcelona and the 2023 World Cup with Spain also winning the Golden Ball. 

Yachine Trophy – Emiliano Martínez

The Yachine Trophy was awarded to Argentina and Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez for a second year in a row. He won the Copa América with Argentina in the summer this year and also ended the 2023 season in Top Four with a European Champions League qualification with his club Aston Villa. 

Prix Sócrates – Jennifer Hermoso

Spain’s Jennifer Hermoso won the Prix Sócrates award for her humanitarian work in 2023/24. She has been awarded the third version of the Ballon d’Or for her work towards advancement of women’s football and raising her voice against sexual harassment.

Gerd Müller Trophy – Harry Kane/ Kylian Mbappe 

The best striker award was shared by Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe for the 2023/24 season. Kane scored an incredible 52 goals for Bayern Munich and England for the past season. Kylian Mbappe scored the same number of goals for former club Paris Saint -Germain and France. 

Men’s Johan Cruyff Trophy – Carlo Ancelotti 

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti was awarded the best coach award for the 2023/24 season. Real Madrid won the Spanish La Liga and the European Champions League in this period. 

Women’s Johan Cruyff Trophy – Emma Hayes 

Former Chelsea Manager, Emma Hayes won the best women’s coach award for the 2023/24 season. She led Chelsea to a fifth consecutive Women’s Super League title, took them to the finals of the League cup, Semi-finals of the Champions League and the FA Cup in a highly successful season. 

Men’s Club of the Year – CF Real Madrid 

For their performances and a successful trophy-laden season, Real Madrid was awarded the Men’s Club of the Year for 2023/24 season. 

Women’s Club of the Year – FC Barcelona Femení

Barcelona FC Femení was awarded the best Women’s Club of the Year award for 2023/24 season for their consistent performances and winning the Women’s La Liga, the Spanish Super Cup, Copa de la Reina and the Women’s Champions League.
