Arsenal‘s sleeve sponsor Visit Rwanda has extended its partnership with the Gunners, with the contract now running through 2025. It previously signed up with Arsenal back in 2018 on a three-year deal.
The new deal is reported to be £10m per year. As part of the deal, the tourism brand’s logo is present on the Gunners’ jersey sleeves while the Arsenal players, both men and women, visit Rwanda along with holding camps there to develop the game for the upcoming talents in the country. Most recently, former Arsenal defender David Luiz had gone to Rwanda back in 2019 to film extensive promotional content.
The deal comes days after Rwandan president Paul Kagame publicly criticised the North London team for their dismal show in the opening game of the Premier League season.
After Arsenal lost to Brentford 2-0, Kagame launched a tirade against the club and their owner, Stan Kroenke, on Twitter, which went as follows:
Although off the field a sweet deal has been struck by the Gunners, they will be looking to strike form on the pitch too after going down to newly promoted Brentford.
After already finishing eighth last season, the pressure is definitely on Mikel Arteta and his boys and it is time they delivered on the pitch.
