The fifth game of the 2025 Asia Cup brings us a massive encounter between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on September 13, 2025.
For the game, here are our preview and predictions.
Bangladesh opened their account in this competition with a win over Hong Kong, who batted first and managed to score a competitive target of 143/7. Nizakat Khan was the top scorer for the Hongkongers with 42 off 40 balls, while Tanzim Hasan Sakib was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/21 in four overs.
In response, Bangladesh cruised to the target with seven wickets in hand and 14 balls to spare. Captain Litton Das led the way with 59 off 39 balls, while Towhid Hridoy also provided support with 35* off 36 balls. As for Sri Lanka, they’ll be playing their first match of the Asia Cup against Bangladesh. They recently won a T20I series 2–1 against Zimbabwe and are in decent form. However, they did lose to Bangladesh earlier this year.
Sri Lanka have an in-form batting line-up featuring Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Perera, Kamil Mishara, and Kamindu Mendis. With the ball, Dushmantha Chameera has been among the wickets.
Even though Sri Lanka lost the T20I series against Bangladesh, their batters are superior on paper and more consistent than Bangladesh, making them our favourites for this game.
