The defending champions and the current world T20 champions kicked off their Asia Cup campaign in dominant style, as they steamrolled the UAE in the opening game. Bowling first, India went in with a surprise blend of one seamer, three spinners, and two all-rounders. This worked nicely in India’s favour, as their spinners put the Emirati batters in a chokehold. Kuldeep Yadav was India’s standout bowler with a four-wicket haul. In fact, all Indian bowlers were on song, with Shivam Dube also chipping in with three handy wickets, which would have definitely given the management something to think about.

With the bat, the Men in Blue didn’t have much to do chasing 58. Abhishek Sharma went all guns blazing early on to make sure he and Shubman Gill got India to the target inside five overs. The Indian batting line-up has plenty of firepower and depth, with Sanju Samson slotting in at No. 5 ahead of the all-rounders — Axar Patel, Hardik Pandya, and Shivam Dube.
