Asics India inks partnership deal with Rohan Bopanna

Sportswear brand, Asics, has signed a sponsorship deal with India’s top tennis player, Rohan Bopanna. The brand has also tied up with the Rohan Bopanna Tennis Academy to help impart tennis training to young players in the making.

On becoming an ambassador of Asics, Rohan Bopanna said, “I have been using their gloves and shoes for the past few months. I am really looking forward to this association and performing to my best potential.”

The Managing Director of ASICS India, Rajat Khurana said, “We already have tennis ace Novak Djokovic as our global brand ambassador and with Rohan joining us, we have added yet another star to our illustrious bandwagon of athletes that will be waving the brand flag at Tokyo-2020.”

After parting ways with Seiko in January 2021, Novak Djokovic stayed without a watch sponsor for almost eight months before joining forces with Hublot in August 2021.  Hublot stood by Novak even after his deportation from Australia. Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe expressed his and the brand’s stance on the situation:  "We are waiting to see what his position is with regards to all that he went through," he said in an interview.  "The principle of vaccines is that it's something private. We value personal freedom. Everybody can decide. One can be in favour or against. That is our position."
