Barcelona set to announce Spotify partnership

Spotify to be announced as the club’s shirt and stadium sponsor.

LaLiga club FC Barcelona are reported to have agreed to a sponsorship deal with Swedish audio streaming giant Spotify.

The multi-year partnership is reported to be worth €280 million and will see Spotify become the club’s main shirt sponsor from the next season onwards. The Spotify logo will be visible on the men’s and women’s first-team jerseys and also on the back of the training kits.

Spotify will also gain title rights and sponsor the club’s home ground, the Camp Nou. By sponsoring the Camp Nou, Spotify will become the first brand in Barça history to sponsor the iconic stadium.

Japanese retailer Rakuten has sponsored the men’s team since 2017, and Stanley Black & Decker has been the women’s team’s official shirt sponsor since 2018. Rakuten’s agreement with the Spanish giants is set to expire at the end of the current season, and a renewal of the partnership is unlikely.

A new sponsorship deal will be welcomed by FC Barcelona, given they have been struggling financially. The deal could help them increase their LaLiga salary cap for the upcoming season.

Neither party has officially announced the partnership yet.
