Istanbul-based consumer electronics brand Beko has agreed with FC Barcelona a one-year extension to their existing deal that will cover the 2021-22 season.
Beko first joined Barça as their sleeve sponsor in 2014 and extended their partnership four years later to also become the club’s Official Training and Home Appliances Partner, which would bring the Catalan club €19 million every year and run until the end of 2020-21 season.
With the latest extension, however, Beko have decided to drop the sleeve sponsorship. The new deal will see the Turkish company pay Barça a reduced price of €10 million for the next season considering the financial restraints caused due to COVID. Beko still retains the front-of-shirt sponsorship rights for the team’s training wear but leaves the Balugranas wanting for a new sleeve sponsor next season onwards.
It will be interesting to see how Barcelona goes about making sponsorship deals for next season, what with the sponsors insisting on cut-price deals and the club having to deal with a €1bn debt.
