German league agrees to one-year broadcasting deal.
Bundesliga International signed an agreement with Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN), which will see SPN get media rights to broadcast the Bundesliga in India and the Indian subcontinent.
The one-year deal, which runs till the end of the 2022/23 season, covers the regions of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, and the Maldives and allows the fans to catch the best of German football on SPN’s sports channels. Fans will also be able to see the live action on the OTT platform, SonyLIV.
Speaking about the partnership, Bundesliga International’s CEO, Robert Klein, said,
“With this new deal, we are able to guarantee Bundesliga followers a place to watch their team every single match day.
‘We are looking forward to working with Sony Pictures Networks India throughout India and the Indian subcontinent to deliver all the twists and turns of the next Bundesliga seasons,”
Earlier this year, Bundesliga had agreed to a four-year deal with SkySports in the UK and Ireland. Last month, they had also secured a deal with ESPN, which saw it secure television and digital rights in Spanish-speaking countries in South America a five-year deal.
