English heavyweights Chelsea FC are playing at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup without a front-of-matchday-shirt sponsor.
After eight months into the 2024/25 Premier League season, the Blues had penned a temporary shirt sponsorship agreement with Dubai-based luxury real estate company DAMAC, which covered the last few games of the season for both their men’s and women’s teams.
However, FIFA dictates that short-term shirt sponsors are not allowed for the Club World Cup, and that clubs are mandated to end their tournament with the same sponsor they start it with. Even if an agreement were to be reached midway through the tournament, Chelsea would not be permitted to sport its logo on their matchday shirts.
Chelsea’s shirt sponsorship deal with DAMAC was a match-by-match agreement estimated at £1 million per match. DAMAC paid the club £11 million for just over a month.
While DAMAC is no longer their shirt sponsor, it remains the primary property sponsor of the West London club. The two are working on launching Chelsea-branded residences in Dubai.
Chelsea remain in search of a front-of-matchday-shirt sponsor for the 2025/26 season.
