The Royal Challengers of Bangalore have a small yet impactful group of coaches heading into IPL 2022. Sanjay Bangar, the former India batting coach, takes up the role of head coach for the RCB. Mike Hesson continues as one of the head coaches and is the Director of cricket operations for the RCB. He has been a part of the coaching staff for quite some time now and knows the side better than most. Adam Griffith takes up the bowling coach role, with Malolan Rangarajan reprising his role as the fielding coach of the side.
Given they are one of the most successful sides in the IPL, it’s no surprise that the Chennai Super Kings come with an experienced and talented group of coaches.
The CSK are sticking with Stephen Fleming as their head coach for IPL 2022. Michael Hussey will be taking up the role of batting coach, and Lakshmipathy Balaji will fill in as the bowling coach. Lastly, Rajiv Kumar will be acting as the fielding coach for the Super Kings.
The Kolkata Knight Riders have quite the roster to make for their coaching staff in 2022. Brendon McCullum continues as the side’s head coach, with Abhishek Nayar acting as the assistant coach. Bharat Arun takes up the role of bowling coach, with James Foster contributing as the fielding coach. Lastly, David Hussey will be taking up a mentorship role for the KKR during IPL 2022.
The largest coaching groups are not always the most successful. The ones that prove to be effective are the ones that eventually leave a mark.
This is particularly true for the Delhi Capitals, who continue with Ricky Ponting as their head coach. James Hopes will be the fast-bowling coach for the 2022 season. The two big Aussies are more than capable of driving this side forward.
No coaching staff line-up gets any bigger than what the MI have to offer. Mahela Jayawardane will be the MI head coach for IPL 2022, with Shane Bond acting as the bowling coach. Robin Singh will be taking over as batting coach, and James Pamment will be the fielding coach. Zaheer Khan will be carrying out his role as the Director of Operations for the 2022 season.
Another team with an extensive set of coaching staff, the Rajasthan Royals will be looking forward to having a successful campaign. Kumar Sangakkara will be acting as the Director of Cricket, with Trevor Panney acting as the assistant coach. Dishant Yagnik will take up the role of fielding coach. Amol Mazumdar will be acting as the batting coach. Lastly, the work of the bowling coaches will be split between Sairaj Bahatule and Rob Cassell, who will be acting as the spin-bowling and fast-bowling coaches, respectively.
The Punjab Kings are yet another side with a limited group of personnel who are extremely capable in their own right. Anil Kumble takes up the role of Director of Operations, with Jonty Rhodes acting as the assistant coach. Damien Wright takes up the role of the team’s bowling coach.
Although the SunRisers have had some troubles with Simon Katich as coach of the side, they have put together a good group of experienced heads.
Tom Moody will be taking over as the SRH head coach. He will be accompanied by legends Brian Lara, who will act as the batting coach, and Dale Steyn, who will take up the role of bowling coach.
Although not much is known of the Titans’ coaches, Ashish Nehra and Garry Kirsten will undoubtedly be a part of the coaching team. Nehra, most likely to work with the bowlers, will be the head coach, while Kirsten will act as the batting coach and team mentor. The Titans have also included Vikram Solanki as part of their coaching staff.
The Super Giants have roped in some big names to make up their coaching set-up for their maiden IPL season. In terms of names, it does not get any bigger than Andy Flower, who will be the head coach of the side. Alongside him will be former Indian opening batter Gautam Gambhir, who will act as the team mentor. Vijay Dahiya has also been included as part of the set to play the role of assistant coach.
