Indian broadcasting conglomerate Disney Star has roped in nine broadcast and online streaming sponsors for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023, which is being co-hosted by Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
The confirmed sponsors are: Thums Up, Nerolac Paint+, Amazon Pay, Jindal Panther, My11Circle, MRF, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 and Wild Stone.
As per reports, Disney Star requested ?26 crore for the “co-presenting” category on television and ?30 crore for Disney+ Hotstar, its OTT platform. Industry insiders also estimate that “associate” sponsorship for Star Sports can cost around ?19.66 crore, while the broadcaster is asking for ?18 crore for the “powered by” branding on Disney+ Hotstar.
Disney+ Hotstar has three sponsorship categories: “co-presenting” (?30 crore), “powered by” (?18 crore), and “associate” (?12 crore). The broadcaster estimates that “associate” sponsorships will reach around 60–70 million people, while the “powered by” sponsorship will reach 90–100 million people and the “co-presenting” sponsorship will reach 120–140 million people.
For India vs Pakistan match(es), a spot buy for 10 seconds is set to cost ?25 lakh, while the pricing for ads for non-Indian fixtures lasting 10 seconds is ?2.3 lakh. Additionally, the fee for all other India matches as well as the final has been set at ?17 lakh for every 10-second spot.
The 2023 Asia Cup is scheduled to begin on August 30 and run until September 17. The Men in Blue kick off their campaign against Pakistan on September 2 in Pallekele, Sri Lanka.
