Erling Haaland inks deal with Viaplay

Halaand joins as firm’s spokesman

Manchester City’s Norwegian striker Erling Haaland has inked a long-term partnership with Nordic streamer Viaplay. The partnership will also see Haaland feature in the exclusive upcoming documentary Haaland – The Big Decision

The documentary will give fans a behind the scenes and closer look at Haaland’s meteorical rise and his 2022 summer journey which led to Manchester City signing him for €60 million. Haaland will also serve as Viaplay’s media ambassador across the nine countries in Europe where Viaplay has Premier League rights.

Erling Haaland, Manchester City and Norway forward, commented,

“All my life I’ve watched and supported English football. To be able now to play in the Premier League is a dream come true. Joining up with Premier League rights holders Viaplay in an ambassador role is something I look forward to. I’m sure we’ll have many fun years together.”

Anders Jensen, Viaplay Group President and CEO, added,

“A Nordic phenomenon stepping onto the global stage – Erling and Viaplay complement each other perfectly. As our partnerships with Formula One’s Max Verstappen and now the Premier League’s latest superstar make clear, Viaplay not only shows sports’ biggest names in action every week but brings fans closer to them than anyone else.”

Peter Nørrelund, Viaplay Group Chief Sports Officer, stated,

“Erling’s explosive two-goal league debut is just a taste of what’s to come. Viaplay is the home of the Premier League in nine countries, and supporters everywhere are eager to follow each step of the City’s new number nine. Sports documentaries are among Viaplay’s fastest growing content areas, and we look forward to working with Erling to help share his incredible story.”

The partnership will also see Erling’s father, Alfie, a former Premier League player himself, join Viaplay as an expert studio analyst for the firm’s Premier League broadcasts.

Before signing Haaland, Viaplay had also inked a similar deal with reigning Formula One champion Max Verstappen.
