Spotify becomes the Official Audio Streaming Partner and a Main Partner of the club.

LaLiga giants FC Barcelona have inked a new partnership with global music streaming service Spotify, which will see the latter become a Main Partner and the Official Audio Streaming Partner of the club.

Spotify will also become the title partner of Barça’s stadium Camp Nou, which will be renamed as the Spotify Camp Nou. The four-year partnership is reported to be worth €280 million. Spotify will be replacing Japanese e-commerce firm Rakuten as Barcelona’s front-of-shirt sponsor for their men’s and women’s teams as well. The Swedish company will also sponsor Barça’s training kits. The deal is reported to be Spotify’s biggest-ever sponsorship agreement to date.

Alex Norström, Spotify’s Chief Freemium Business Officer, commented:

It’s about connecting fans with artists of every kind – players and artists, music and sports. Barcelona fans and audio lovers on Spotify will come together to form a massive, globally connected community bridging the worlds of music and football.

“The vision for the partnership is to create a new platform to help artists interact with Barcelona’s global community of fans. As we look to grow the Spotify brand worldwide, there are few partners that have this sort of scale and global reach. Being able to connect music and football fans from Barcelona to Mumbai, Jakarta to Rio de Janeiro, is really a unique opportunity.

More fans engaging with our platform means more opportunities for creators to live off of their art, and FC Barcelona’s massive global fan base will help fuel that growth. And for fans – both music and Barça fans – we’ll be creating more interactive and exciting experiences to connect with the artists they love.

FC Barcelona has legions of young fans across the world – in fact, most of Barça’s fans are under the age of 30, which is a hugely important audience for Spotify. Those fans also reside in some of Spotify’s fastest-growing markets, including India, Latin America, and Indonesia. Against that backdrop, Spotify will be able to amplify the work of artists to new potential fans and supporters.

Joan Laporta, President of FC Barcelona, added:

We are very proud to announce a pioneering alliance like this with a world-renowned organisation like Spotify. This partnership will allow us to continue to bring the Club closer to its fans and make them feel, even more, part of the Barça family through unique experiences, combining two activities such as entertainment and football, making it possible for us to connect with new audiences around the world.

It is also a union with which we continue to take steps forward in this new era that we have started, and which demonstrates, once again, the innovative character and the constant search of excellence that distinguish Barça and have made it a unique club in the world.
