Italian Formula One team Ferrari have announced the roster for their Reserve and Development Drivers for the upcoming Formula One 2023 season. Ferrari have announced a total of four drivers who will support their main two drivers, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz.
Two of those drivers are former Formula One driver Antonio Giovinazzi and Robert Shwartzman, both of whom will share the Reserve Driver role along as they will also work on Ferrari’s new simulator, which was launched last year.
Along with Giovinazzi and Shwartzman, Antonio Fuoco and Davide Rigon will work as Development Drivers, putting in the hours in the simulator. Fuoco is a Formula 2 race winner, while Rigon races in the GT series.
Giovinazzi has been a long-standing member of the Ferrari Academy and has driven for Alfa Romeo for multiple seasons in Formula One. Shwartzman, meanwhile, is another Ferrari Driver Academy member and was runner-up in Formula 2 last season.
Both Fuoco and Giovinazzi will be taking part in the WEC, racing the 499 Hypercar, while Shwartzman and Rigon will race in the 296 GT3. Shwartzman will also take part in the SRO GT World Challenge Europe series, while Rigon will take part in the SRO series, WEC and the IMSA Endurance Cup.
