Video games developers Sega and Sports Interactive have announced their licensing partnership with UEFA, which will allow the 2022 edition of their flagship football manager simulation video game series, Football Manager 2023, to feature European club competitions for the first time ever.
Football Manager 2023 is set to be released on November 8, 2022, and will be available on PC, Mac, smartphones, tablets and consoles. It will be the first Football Manager instalment to officially feature the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Europa League, the UEFA Europa Conference League and the UEFA Super Cup.
While Football Manager 2023 won’t feature the UEFA Women’s Champions League, the partnership entails discussion among the parties over its inclusion in future titles.
Commenting on the partnership, Miles Jacobson, Sports Interactive Studio Director, said:
“Football Manage 2023 marks another significant step forward for the Football Manager series as we introduce the Uefa club competitions and bring the game to PlayStation 5.
“Adding these historic competitions is an ideal fit for all parties involved and will add another dynamic and challenging element for fans that makes this year’s edition the most realistic football management simulation available.”
