Formula One extends presence in Brazil with dual partnership

Formula One has extended its partnership with Bandeirantes, Brazil for a further three years, which will see the latter continue to hold the exclusive broadcast rights of F1 in Brazil till 2025.

Additionally, Formula One has also signed a partnership with Claro Brasil, a representative company of América Móvil, which will see Claro Brasil the Exclusive Distribution Partner of F1 TV Pro in Brazil.

The partnership with Bandeirantes will see all the qualifying and Grands Prix broadcast on a live-free-to-air basis on Rede Bandeirantes. Claro Brasil will also provide the Brazilian fans with beyond-the-track content from F1 TV Pro from July.

Ian Holmes, Director of Media Rights and Content Creation, Formula One, commented:

Formula 1 has always had a significant presence in Brazil and an illustrious history associated with the country so it’s fantastic that through these deals, we’re able to make the sport as widely available to as many fans as possible. We are delighted to be working with Band for a further term and continue the impressive growth that we witnessed last year and are able to combine their free-to-air coverage with the addition of the Claro partnership that enables the more avid fan access to even greater levels of archive and original content.

Denis Gavazzi, Sports Director of Grupo Bandeirantes de Comunicação, stated:

We are extremely happy with the agreement. Formula 1 is the main sport product of Grupo Bandeirantes. I believe that the continuation of the partnership between Band and Formula 1 is the result of the good work done from last year until now. It is important to emphasise that Band and Formula 1 are partners in Brazil and will always work together for the growth of the category in our country.

Rodolfo Schneider, National Content Director at Grupo Bandeirantes de Comunicação, said:

Band has the DNA of sport. It has always been and continues to be the Sports Channel in the memory of Brazilians. The arrival of Formula 1 strengthened this pillar and became a great success. The numbers prove this. We have a brilliant team covering the entire season and we have space within the Group’s vehicles to treat Formula 1 with the size it deserves and the viewers want.

Marcio Carvalho, Chief Marketing Officer, Claro, added:

Motorsports represent one of Claro’s key marketing assets, positioning our products and services around performance, technology and innovation. We have a track record sponsoring drivers and racing teams, such as Sérgio Perez, Pietro Fittipaldi and Red Bull Racing. In addition, Claro supports Band as a broadcast sponsor. We are now launching F1 TV Pro streaming service, reinforcing our position as the largest content hub in Latin America. Claro customers and motorsport fans will have access to all emotions, with the greatest convenience, being able to add on F1 TV to our connectivity and entertainment services, enabling them to watch and engage with F1 at home, through the biggest broadband platform in Brazil, and anywhere else on their smartphones, experiencing the greater quality of our mobile network, the fastest in the country.”
