Formula One releases 2027 calendar with 10 Sprint weekends

Formula One has officially released the Formula One World Championship 2027 calendar, along with the FIA. The schedule, which has been approved by the World Motor Sport Council, will see a total of 24 Grands Prix and a record 10 Sprint events. 

The season will kick off with pre-season testing between February 24 – 27, 2027 in Bahrain before the opening race takes place in Bahrain itself on March 14, 2027. The opening race of the season in Bahrain will be a Sprint before moving to Saudi Arabia. For the first-time ever, there will be 10 Sprint events including in Monaco. The Sprint events will be in Bahrain, Australia, Japan, Canada, Monaco, Great Britain, Italy, Brazil, Qatar and Abu Dhabi, which means even the season finale will be a Sprint event. It will be the first time Bahrain, Australia, Japan, Monaco and Abu Dhabi hosts Sprint events. 

The Hungarian Grand Prix on August 1, 2027 will be the final race of the first half of the season before the summer break and racing is scheduled to resume with the Italian Grand Prix 2027 in Monza on September 3, 2027. The Turkish Grand Prix is set to return and will be held between October 1 – October 3, 2027 in Istanbul and the grid will also head to Portimão for the return of the Portuguese Grand Prix on June 20, 2027.
