After coming inches from pulling off an incredible upset in the opening game, the Netherlands will look to pick up their first win of the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup when they go up against Namibia.
Here, we present our preview and predictions for the game.
The Dutch nearly pulled off a stunning victory against Pakistan in their opening match and were arguably one catch away from a historic upset. On a slow Colombo track, their batting unit never really got going, despite Michael Levitt, Bas de Leede, Colin Ackerman, and Scott Edwards getting decent starts. Against a bowling attack not as strong as the Pakistani one, Edwards will hope that his batters convert their starts.
Defending 147, the Dutch bowlers were on song and kept things tight while also regularly chipping in with wickets. Aryan Dutt, Paul van Meekeren, and Roelof van der Merwe all had a strong outing, and the management will expect the same from the bowlers again.
Namibia, on the other hand, kick off their World Cup campaign here, with Gerhard Erasmus and Co coming into the tournament on the back of mixed results in their warm-up games. A top order of Louren Steenkamp, Jan Frylinck, and Erasmus provides Namibia with a lot of experience at the top, and all three have had decent outings in the warm-up games.
All-rounders JJ Smit and Ruben Trumpelmann are handy options for Erasmus, with Trumpelmann leading the bowling attack as well. Max Heingo, Smit, and Erasmus have also been among the wickets and will be crucial for Namibia’s fortunes.
The Delhi ground is known to favour batters, so we should expect runs here. Namibia start as our favourites to take the win given the form they’ve shown recently.
