ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024: Match 2 Match Preview and Predictions

The second game of the opening day of the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will see two Asian teams in Pakistan and Sri Lanka face off.

Women’s T20 WC 2024 Match 2: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka

The recently-crowned Asia Cup champions, Sri Lanka, are in a buoyant mood, while Pakistan have been rather abysmal. Furthermore, a change in captaincy just prior to the tournament doesn’t bode well; the Pakistan Cricket Board has removed Nida Dar from the role and put in place Fatima Sana.

Even though, head-to-head, there isn’t much to choose between the two teams, recent form gives Sri Lanka the edge. Pakistan’s pre-tournament preparations haven’t gone to plan either, with them having lost both their warm-up games against Bangladesh and Scotland.

In contrast, Sri Lanka have won both their warm-up games against the same oppositions and are likely to make a positive start to an ICC tournament in which, historically, they haven’t performed well.

Fantasy XI

Chamari Athapaththu, Muneeba Ali, Hasini Perera, Harshitha Madhavi, Sidra Ameen, Fatima Sana, Kavisha Dilhari, Sugandika Kumari, Sudeshika Prabodhani, Sadia Iqbal, Nashra Sandhu.

Venue: Sharjah
Winners Prediction: Sri Lanka
