IPL 2025 | Match 55: SRH vs DC | Preview and Predictions

Match 55 of the 2025 Indian Premier League season brings an encounter between a struggling SunRisers Hyderabad side and the Delhi Capitals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on May 5.

For the game, here are our preview and predictions.

Indian Premier League 2025 | Match 55: SunRisers Hyderabad vs Delhi Capitals | 19:30 IST, May 5

The SunRisers have endured a dismal campaign so far, having lost seven of their ten games. Their team combinations just haven’t worked out. Looking to build on last year’s success, they have surprisingly hit rock bottom this season.

In SRH’s last game, the Gujarat Titans batted first and posted a massive total of 224/6 as openers Shubman Gill (76 off 38) and Sai Sudharsan (48 off 23) gave them a blistering start before Jos Buttler (64 off 37) helped them reach a competitive total. For SRH, Jaydev Unadkat ended with figures of 3/35.

In response, last year’s runners-up started well, scoring 49 runs in 4.2 overs, but after Travis Head departed no one could stay alongside Abhishek Sharma (74 off 41) to help with the chase. Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy managed scores of 20+ each, but it proved far from enough as SRH ended with 186/6 in their 20 overs.

As for the Delhi Capitals, they started the season well but have lost a bit of momentum of late, having lost their last two games. They need to push on if they are to make the playoffs.

In DC’s last match, the Kolkata Knight Riders batted first and managed a par score of 204/9. Angkrish Raghuvanshi (44 off 32) was their top scorer as a few others chipped in with quick 25+ scores. Rinku Singh (36 off 25) provided the late blitz to take his side to 204/9 as wickets tumbled around him.

In response, DC lost an early wicket of opener Abhishek Porel. Faf du Plessis (62 off 45) and captain Axar Patel (43 off 23) then looked set to propel DC to a win before wickets fell in quick succession. Leg-spinner Vipraj Nigam (38 off 19) was the lone fighter in the lower order, and in the end DC fell short by 14 runs as Sunil Narine won the match for KKR with a superb spell of 3/29.

Coming to this game, while both DC and SRH are struggling at the moment, the Capitals remain a formidable and balanced outfit. With SRH having not much left to play for, DC will want to win this game and gain back some momentum.

Fantasy XI: Abhishek Sharma, Faf du Plessis, KL Rahul, Axar Patel (c), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Heinrich Klaasen (wk), Ashutosh Sharma, Vipraj Nigam, Kuldeep Yadav, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc

Venue: Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad
Winners Prediction: Delhi Capitals
