Match 60 of the 2025 Indian Premier League season brings us a clash between the Delhi Capitals and the Gujarat Titans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on May 18.
For the game, here are our preview and predictions.
The Shubman Gill-led, table-topping Titans need one more win to confirm their spot in the playoffs, which they’ll want to achieve at the earliest. Star English batter Jos Buttler will soon leave for international duty and will want to help his side finish strongly.
Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill have been one of the most consistent opening pairs in the league this season. As for the rest of GT’s batting lineup, Buttler, Sherfane Rutherford, Shahrukh Khan, and Rahul Tewatia are in good nick. With the main squad fully available for the rest of the regular-season games, reaching the playoffs shouldn’t be too hard.
In their bowling lineup, the Titans have Kagiso Rabada leading the pace attack until the end of the league stage, while Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Ishant Sharma—along with main spinner Rashid Khan—will also be key.
The Capitals, on the other hand, started their campaign on a high but have had a couple of rough losses, which has complicated matters. Many of their key overseas players are not returning for the rest of the season—Mitchell Starc and Jake Fraser-McGurk have confirmed they won’t return, while there’s uncertainty regarding Faf du Plessis’ availability.
So the onus will be on the domestic players. The likes of KL Rahul, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Karun Nair will have to shoulder more responsibility. DC have roped in experienced T20 specialist Mustafizur Rahman to fill in for Starc, while Mukesh Kumar, Yadav, and captain Patel will remain key with the ball.
The Delhi ground has brought about plenty of runs this season with some assistance for the quicks. Based on player availability and recent form, we back the Titans to win this encounter.
Fantasy XI: Shubman Gill, Sai Sudarshan, Abhishek Porel, Jos Buttler, Karun Nair, KL Rahul, Axar Patel, Rashid Khan, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna
