IPL 2025 | Match 7: SRH vs LSG | Preview and Predictions

Match 7 of the 2025 Indian Premier League season brings us a match-up between the SunRisers Hyderabad and the Lucknow Super Giants at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on March 27.

For the game, here are our preview and predictions.

Indian Premier League 2025 | Match 7: SunRisers Hyderabad vs Lucknow Super Giants | 19:30 IST, March 27

The SunRisers boast one of the most destructive batting lineups in the league, which they demonstrated last season as their openers, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, established themselves as one of the most explosive opening duos in the competition.

In their opening encounter against the Rajasthan Royals this year, the SRH batters again ran riot. Head (67 off 31), Sharma (24 off 11), and Ishan Kishan (106* off 47) led their team to a massive target of 286/6. In response, RR lost three wickets in the first three overs. Sanju Samson (66 off 37) and Dhruv Jurel (70 off 35) gave them a glimmer of hope, but the target proved too steep. For SRH, Simarjeet Singh and Harshal Patel picked up two wickets each.

The Super Giants, on the other hand, lost a last-over thriller against the Delhi Capitals in their season opener and were left ruing missed opportunities, having dominated a large part of the match in both innings. Their top order batted beautifully, with Mitchell Marsh (72 off 36) and Nicholas Pooran (75 off 30) taking the DC bowlers to the cleaners. However, once they departed, DC tightened the screws. In the end, LSG managed an above-par 209/8 on a turning pitch, though for most part they looked set for a much higher total. Kuldeep Yadav ended with figures of 2/20 for the Capitals, with Aussie veteran Mitchell Starc registering 3/42 with his four-over spell.

In response, DC found themselves reeling at 65/5 after the Powerplay before contributions from Tristan Stubbs (34 off 22), Vipraj Nigam (39 off 15), and Ashutosh Sharma (66* off 31) took them home in a nerve-racking climax with one wicket remaining and three balls to spare. With their first-choice pacers Mayank Yadav and Mohsin Khan out with long-term injuries, the lack of experience in their bowling lineup cost LSG the match, though the management would have taken some confidence from the performances of Shardul Thakur (2/19), Digvesh Singh (2/31), and Manimaran Siddharth (2/39).

Coming to this game, considering SRH’s batting strength and the inexperience of LSG’s bowling lineup, this could turn out to be another difficult outing for Rishabh Pant and Co. Keeping in check the likes of Head, Sharma, and Kishan, who can play against spin with relative ease and clear any boundary with their power-hitting, may turn out to be too tall an ask.

Fantasy XI: Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Ishan Kishan, Nicholas Pooran, Rishabh Pant (wk), Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, Pat Cummins (c), Harshal Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohammed Shami.

Venue: Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad, Telangana
Winners Prediction: SunRisers Hyderabad
